Awaiting Your Return From Shore

7 Seas Luxury Cruises Boston One of America’s greatest and oldest cities, Boston was founded in 1630 along the Charles River. It was dubbed the "Cradle of Liberty" for leading the American Colonies in their struggle for independence, and "Hub of the Universe" for its citizens’ intellectual achievements.

Many of Boston’s points of interest are near each other and most of them can be seen on foot. The downtown area is packed with magnificent old architecture, museums and monuments. The distinct neighborhoods are steeped in history, with numerous famous monuments. Boston’s entertainment scene is one of the nation’s best. Major sporting events include the annual Boston Marathon, regarded as the most prestigious long-distance foot race in the country.

There is an array of strikingly contrasting neighborhoods, from the trendy elegance of Back Bay and the old-world charm of the North End to the imposing modern skyline of the financial district and adjacent waterfront. Explore at least part of Colonial America’s most historic walk, the Freedom Trail, which crosses the Boston Common, the oldest public park in the USA. The State House, with its dazzling gold dome, overlooks the park. Who hasn’t heard of Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market? Once of historic significance, now it is a place where visitors can browse the endless shops or enjoy a hearty snack or lunch.

Across the Charles River lies Cambridge, with its famed Harvard University founded in 1636 as one of the preeminent Ivy League establishments in the country. Farther inland are Lexington and Concord, two towns that are linked by the events that sparked the American Revolution in 1775.

With so many options, visitors will face the difficult decision of which attractions should be considered a priority during a one-day visit.

Your cruise planning guide

Planning time in Boston

When comparing cruises that call at Boston, look at the scheduled arrival and departure, the distance between the berth and the places you want to visit, and whether the ship docks or uses a tender. An overnight call can offer a different experience from a short daytime stop. Use the destination description below to build a shortlist of interests, then ask Deluxe Cruises which current itinerary best fits your preferred pace and travel dates.

Planning your Silversea voyage

Silversea offers a way to explore both classic ocean routes and expedition destinations. When comparing its voyages, the important distinction is the experience ashore: a port-focused ocean itinerary and an expedition with landings can have very different daily rhythms.

What to compare before choosing

Compare the suite location, time in port and the exact shore programme for your chosen sailing. Ask which transfers, excursions, beverages and gratuities are included in the quoted fare, and whether any optional activities need advance reservations.

Receive a useful, personal quotation

Tell Deluxe Cruises your preferred ship or destination, approximate dates, number of travellers and cabin or suite preference. Mention any flexibility in your plans and whether you need flights or hotel nights. This helps the team compare relevant options and explain the current fare, eligible promotions, payment schedule and cancellation terms. For a fast response and prices, email info@deluxecruises.com with the name of this page, or complete the enquiry form at DeluxeCruises.com.
